Hi,

So in case you haven't noticed, Oedipus hasn't been active at all for a while.

I have taken down the store because it's hard to keep up with.

However, if you are really having trouble finding any of our releases anywhere else (or the prices are ridiculous on ebay), feel free to e mail me:

gabe [at] oedipusrecords [dot] net

and I'll see what I can do to get you what you want.

as for now, Oedipus is non-active, and I don't see it coming back anytime in the near future. However I hope to update the site at some point with a list of all our releases and information on that. for now, you can always check out our wikipedia page

If you have been itching to get your hands on the Casiotone for the Painfully Alone/Foot Foot split single, you are in luck. We just got a package with about 30 copies from our distributor. So it's back in our store.

Unfortunately the Barr/This Song is a Mess... Split single is out of stock for the time being. I might be in California this summer where I will pick some up from our storage warehouse (my mom's garage). Until then I don't have any here in Brooklyn.

Also we are running low on Moth Drakula/Yellow Swans "They Do Not Always Remember" CD. I have 2 in my possession here in Brooklyn. So if you've been waiting on this, please just order it because it probably won't be back in stock until spring.

As for Foot Foot "Snaggle and Buck" CD's I have about 5 left. I can't say if I have any more back home. I remember last time I checked in with the band they didn't have very many left. We will probably not be repressing this on CD (although possibly a vinyl re-issue at one point has been discussed). You can however pick it up digitally from iTunes, emusic, and Amazon. Still my favorite most fan-boy release and the proudest moment I have with oedipus so far. This is probably one of my personal all time albums.

So it's been a long time wince we have posted anything on our web blog. To tell you the truth Oedipus isn't really a functioning label anymore. Unlike the website says, we do not live in Long Beach anymore, but now reside in beautiful Brooklyn, NY. We also don't have any plans to release anything new in the near future.

We recently also moved apartments in Brooklyn and with it a lot of our back stock went into temporary storage. Now we have it and will start shipping orders that are backed up as far as January (so sorry guys). I will be adding goodies to each package to make it up.

Does this mean the label is dead? No not really. We just don't have any immediate plans of releasing anything. Perhaps maybe at one point putting the all of our CD releases on vinyl. we don't know for now.

So please, go ahead and order from us. I will also be updating the store soon with more or a real what's in stock kind of thing. If you have any questions, feel free to drop us an e mail. Thanks!

      Hi guys,
so sorry about the lack of updates in regards to anything Oedipus. Basically we've been really busy with our personal lives and both Pat and I are finishing up our last semesters of school. However I have some pretty important news for everyone.

First off, I am now an employee of our favorite east coast label Aagoo. Aagoo is an New York City based label and has been around for about 5 years and put out some amazing albums. I will be bringing along all my Oedipus know-how to build up their catalog and really do something interesting. Although I can't really give all the details in the world, expect new albums by Foot Foot and Au in the next 6 months, as well as some great limited edition fun stuff.

Because of this, Pat and I are leaving our Southern California homes and moving to Brooklyn. Anyone who knows us can tell you that New York has been a pipe dream ever since we were 16, so we're really pumped.

Oedipus will still remain an active label, albeit for the most part limited edition 7"s. Nothing is certain right now, but we have a couple of really great people we're discussing working with. So keep checking the website! it will also function as our travel blog, since we'll be road trippin' it through most of the country.

so please keep checking out the site. The brand new Aagoo website should be up by next week. so check aagoo.com pretty regularly.

      Greeting all.
I want to thank everyone who made it out to see Au last weekend, it was great to see them and be able to hang out. Both shows also had were beyond epic, so really give yourselves a hand, and let's hope they come back real soon.

but moving along, there's some other really cool stuff coming up...

First off, Foot Foot has finished their sophomore album, entitled "Trumpet". It's moodier and darker than "Snaggle and Buck", but really shows the band so much more mature and structured. I haven't put it down since I got a copy, I really think it's an album that will turn some heads and make their fans even more devoted. This, like the Au album, will be a co-release with our favorite new yorkers Aagoo.

Casiotone for the Painfully Alone will also be making his second 7" appearance on Oedipus, this time on a collaboration picture disc with our old friend David Horovitz, who has gone from oddball guitarist in a local punk band to amazing photographer/tour manager for Xiu Xiu. The single will be limited to 500 and look amazing. It should be out before the end of the year. They will probably sell out super quick, due to people wanting to collect all the David Horovitz picture discs (with other brilliant acts like Xiu Xiu, the Lucky Dragons, High Places, etc), so keep looking for the pre-order.
